      Frequently asked questions

What should I bring for my eye exam?arrow
The most important thing to bring is yourself. However, it is helpful to bring your vision and medical insurance card, along with your current glasses or contact lenses. Please, don't forget to bring a mask since they are a local requirement and if you have any specific questions, feel free to bring them to your appointment or call our doctor to discuss.
Can I buy prescription glasses if I had my exam with another doctor or at another store?arrow
All prescriptions are welcome at CVS Optical™, whether you received the Rx from us or another doctor. If you have a valid prescription, we can get you started right away and if you don't have a copy of your current prescription, we can help you request this from your doctor.
What should I expect during my eye exam?arrow
During our comprehensive eye exam, our Independent Doctor of Optometry will examine your overall eye health. In addition, our doctor may perform a few tests designed to help identify eye conditions and diseases, such as cataracts and glaucoma, early. You will have plenty of time to discuss your prescription and ask any questions you may have about eye health and vision correction solutions. Book your next exam now!
What is a contact lens exam?arrow
We are contact lens experts! During your contact lens exam, you are provided the same care as a regular eye exam but with added time to measure the curve and shape of your eye. This extra measurement will help your doctor identify the contact lens that will be most adapted to your needs. If this is your first time wearing contact lenses, we will also show you how to insert and remove your lenses safely, so you feel confident and happy with your new lenses. Still have questions about your contact lenses? We are always here to help. Ask an Optical Center associate in-store today.
How do I know if you accept my vision insurance?arrow
Good news! At CVS Optical™ we accept most vision insurance plans. You can stop by an Optical Center or call for more assistance. You can also use your FSA or HSA plans to help you pay for your new eyewear or contact lenses.
Do I need an eye exam even if I don’t currently wear eyeglasses or contact lenses?arrow
Annual eye exams are recommended as a part of preventative health care. Even if you have a perfect vision, you may be unaware of underlying health issues that an eye exam can help detect. As with most preventive care, detecting vision problems early can help maintain your overall vision and eye health. Book your next exam now!
Do you provide exams to children and teens?arrow
We strive to be a convenient place for the entire family. We gladly welcome all children above 5 years old in our stores. Please contact your closest Optical Center and speak to an associate if you have a vision need for a child under 5 so we can help provide further guidance.
